For travel to or from countries outside the Schengen area, the pilot in command must send a detailed crew and passenger list (PNR information) to the local police before departure for border control purposes.

Passengers and crew members who are not EU citizens or do not hold a residence permit in a Schengen country must also be registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES).
